Guess what?! There’s only 2 weeks left until Christmas!! This weekend we got our Christmas tree up, decorated it, and slowly started to get some Christmas decorations out. How about you- have you gotten out any of your decorations yet? Do you have your tree up?

We still haven’t finished shopping yet…. we better get started on that 😉

Every year for Christmas we hand out tins full of cookies, candies, and buckeyes. Some years, we even bake bread! So, we thought we would share with you one of the things we put in our tins: Decorated Sugar Cookies! It’s like a Holiday specialty- there’s got to be cute sugar cookies! We’ve posted a video on Youtube (you can watch it down below, too) on how to decorate sugar cookies. All you need is some royal icing, sugar cookies, and piping bags, and you can have the cutest cookies of the Holiday season!

You can use your favorite homemade sugar cookie recipe or buy some pre-made dough at your local supermarket; same goes for the royal frosting. These cute cookies couldn’t get any easier! As you will see in the video, first outline your cookies with the royal icing. Then, you’re going to “flood” them. This just means that your going to fill the cookie with the icing. Some people thin out the icing for this. We don’t. We just pipe some into the middle and use a toothpick to spread the icing and fill in any areas of the cookie that don’t already have icing on them.

If you want to draw a design on, say, your tree then we suggest that you let the the layer of green dry before adding your adornments. This is so that the different colors don’t all run together. You can even use edible ink to draw on your cookies once their dry! (we don’t know how much more fun these could get!)
