Hey ya’ll, we hope you had a wonderful New Years Eve and New Years Day and that your
2016 2017 is off to an amazing start! We thought we would just make a quick post saying goodbye to 2016 and hello to 2016, ugh, we mean 2017! We’ll be writing 2016 for the next 2 weeks…
Last year, we didn’t get to travel as much as we would have liked. We actually had plans to go on a New Years vacation (yes, we could be somewhere nice and warm right now but, no, we’re not salty about it….). See, we have to save for a new car, and our warm, sunny winter trip was wiped right off the table!
If 2016 has taught us anything, it was that we are as unprepared as ever. Seriously though, if the two of us had a slogan, it would probably be unprepared and oblivious since 1996. New York? Didn’t even know how to operate the car we rented! Washington DC? Well, this vacation was fueled by dehydration, sunburn and lack of food. We also missed President Obama at Arlington Cemetery by about 30 minutes and seeing Donald Trump by about an hour, and accidentally walked right into a motorcycle rally. The Smoky Mountains? We didn’t take ponchos or rain gear, to a place where it’s known to rain a lot and without warning.
However, we had so much fun on all of these trips and we wouldn’t change a thing! So, in 2017, we plan to be just as unprepared and just as oblivious! We hope that you’ll join us for another year of unpreparedness!
Not only did we travel to some amazing places and have many adventures, we also baked so many yummy things: we tested sugars substitutes in cookies, learned how to make lattice top pies and braided pie edges, and cake batter cookies. I sure hope you remember these wonderfully delicious Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Squares! Hopefully, you baked a few things along with us and maybe learned a few things too- we sure did!

2016, we mean 2017 (hopefully we’ll get the year right too!) be full of many safe travels and many full cookie jars! 🙂
