Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
Hey everybody, we hope your having a great start to your week and that you had an amazing weekend! We didn’t do anything really, we spent most of it at work and watching Netflix. Anyone watch Supernatural? We’re only on season 6 but it’s taken over our lives, it’s amazing! If you watch it, let us know down in the comments, we’d love to chat about it! Also, let us know what ya’ll did this weekend, anything fun or did you just hang out like we did?
Last week, we made a post about Eco-Freindly Blogging, check it out if you have a chance! We already had this recipe tested, perfected, and shot before we wrote that post and decided to go in that direction (do we get bonus points for being ahead in the game and prepared for once in our lives??), so we haven’t tested or began that yet, next week for sure! So, look forward to that next week, we can’t wait to start this, we hope you’re as excited as we are! (let us know if you are, we’d love to share some enthusiasm with you ladies and gents!)
So, we are firm believers that the chocolate chip cookie is perfection. But, we’ve got a close second here this week: Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies! These are delicious warm, cold, room temperature, any which way! They’re soft, like any perfect chocolate chip cookie is and the brown butter adds a subtle nutty flavor thats absolutely delicious!
This recipe is soooo easy! After browning the butter all you have to do is mix everything together! Browning butter is pretty simple. When it’s browning, it may get a foam on the top, so it can be hard to look at the butter, so we always go by the smell. Once its browned it’ll kind of have a nutty flavor. I (Ashley) hate the smell of browned butter (is it just me or do you feel this way too??), Georgia always laughs at me, but I just hate it, haha. So, for me, once it gets this nasty smell, I know it’s done!
The brown butter may not have the most pleasant smell, but the cookies (and cookie dough-not that we eat it) tastes amazing!! You won’t regret making these, you probably won’t even want to share!
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs 2 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups chocolate chips (or chunks)
- In a small saucepan, brown the butter. Melt the butter and then let it continue to “boil” over medium low to medium heat until the butter is browned. Once it’s browned, it will give off a nutty aroma. Pour the butter into a large bowl and let cool for 15 minutes.
- Once the butter has cooled, mix in the brown sugar. Next, stir in the eggs and vanilla until well combined. let dough chill for 1 hour.
- Mix in the dry ingredients until just combined. stir in the chocolate chips. Bake for 12 minutes at 325F. (we like to eat them warm!)
