The Girl Outdoors: A Review
If you’ve been reading our blog for any amount of time, then you probably know that we love to hike. We spent time in the Smoky Mountains doing (just about) nothing but hiking. We went on a weeklong hiking trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains in August before classes started for the semester. Spending time outdoors (especially at the beach *insert heart eyes emoji*) is something that we really enjoy. That’s why we were so intrigued when we found The Girl Outdoors by Sian Anna Lewis. You can find it on Amazon here.
Why We Love It
The Girl Outdoors is full of SO much information! It’s the perfect guide for every girl: whether you have experience with the great outdoors or not. After reading this book, we’re inspired to get outdoors even more. There is information to get you started in literally anything you could possibly do outside from hiking to camping to foraging. We especially loved the section on recipes for camping because the last time we tried to cook over the fire we burnt the food so bad and inedible that we didn’t even try to salvage it. So, next time we go camping, we’re trying one of these recipes!
If all of these examples of things you can do don’t get you outside, then the pictures definitely will! We loved that this book was picture heavy. It showed just how much fun you can have when you get out and explore. This book made it look so simple and really it is! All you have to do is get out there and do it!
The only drawback we found with this book was that it’s a UK book, so the websites that she talks about in the book don’t really work here in the US. But you can look for similar sites here. So, it’s not really that big of a deal! Also, we love hearing English words and it was fun to read it and try to figure out what they meant!
You can find Sian Anna Lewis’s website here. It’s full of so much wonderful information. Her blog is like a large, interactive version of her book!
