These Peanut Butter cup brownies are some of the best brownies you’ll ever eat! They are full of chocolatey goodness and they are fudge-y! Trust us, we will never willingly eat a cake-y brownie. Never. So we made sure this brownie recipe would be fudge-y before we even started adding anything to it! The brownies are super chocolatey and the frosting is full of peanut butter flavor. Peanut butter and chocolate are a match made in heaven, so this is quite literally a perfect brownie! (not that we’re bias or anything…) Oh and did we mention that there’s a surprise inside? It’s a peanut butter cup! Well, we guess it’s not much of a surprise now…
Sorry to all the non chocolate lovers out there! Maybe just eat the frosting by the spoonful? Yup. Definitely do that.
We actually were inspired by Halloween last week to make these! We wondered what everyone did with all the leftover candy, (we know you didn’t give it all out, you were saving it for you!;) ) and we thought this would be a perfect way to use up all the leftover peanut butter cups!
And if you don’t have any left over candy (like us!) then halloween candy is half off- hurry up go get some while it’s still there!
Speaking of halloween (we know it’s been a week, but we still want to talk about it, okay? Okay!), if you follow us on Instagram, then you already know that we walked around our little neighborhood & looked at all the costumes and decorated houses. We saw some pretty cute and some scary houses. There’s even one house that puts up a big screen and chairs and plays a movie for all the kids. And the town we live in even gives out free hot dogs, popcorn, candy, and Kool-aide. Did any of y’all dress up or go out? Let us know!

Yup, only one bowl to wash when your done! See, we knew that’d be the one to get you in the kitchen! We could argue that it’s the best part of this recipe. OOOOhhhh never mind, the chocolate/peanut butter flavor is the best part! And what about the surprise peanut butter cups in the middle?!?! We can’t pick a best part. They’re all just too good, so y’all make them and tell us what your favorite part is! (and don’t forget to show us your pics!)
Peanut Butter Cup Brownies
6 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
2 cups sugar
2 egg yolks
2 tsp vanilla
1 1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup cocoa
1 tsp salt
48 peanut butter cups
for the frosting:
4 Tbsp butter, room temperature
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 1/4 cup powdered sugar
2 Tbsp milk
1 cup Reese’s Pieces, roughly chopped (optional)
- Preheat the oven to 350F. Line a 9×9 inch pan with either foil or parchment paper. In a large bowl, melt together the chocolate and the butter. Whisk in the sugar.
- Add in the eggs, yolks, and vanilla and whisk until combined. Fold in the dry ingredients.
- Spoon about 1/2 the batter into the bottom of the pan. Place the peanut butter cups in rows until the batter is covered. Top with the remaining brownie batter. Bake for 35 minutes. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
- After the brownies are cool, make the frosting. Cream together the butter and peanut butter until light. Add the powdered sugar and milk and beat until light and fluffy.
- Spread the peanut butter frosting over the cool brownies and sprinkle on the Reese’s pieces, if using.
*We know the pictures show 9 pieces and the recipe says 12 servings, but if you cut it into 9 pieces, it’s really too much, since the brownies are pretty rich!*
